One leather skirt = a 9 inch rug center
Skirt specs: Size 12, knee length.
This is the center of my "retina recovery rug." Next I'll do blue jeans, doing one pair at a time. I have a whole series of photos showing how I chose which jeans to go with this skirt, etc., to do as a tutorial for how the creative process works, but that will have to wait. Our female dog gave birth while sleeping on me last night, so... .

Hello, love your blog. I am toying with the idea of making a rug. I am a quilter and have lots of fabric everywhere. LOL.
Thanks Julie- yes, I've "inherited" a lot of mat'l from quilters over the years. :>
If you want to see what the leather center looks like with jeans, see the video in my most recent post.
I really love the color of this one, beautiful work!
Thank you, I'm on to my third pair of jeans now. I'll post a picture when my digital camera gets back from the repair shop. (Finally got a good camera, 2 months later, the screen went blank...)
Oh my! Hello dear friend. I have missed you terribly so. :(
I was so thrilled to see your comment on my blogger. :)
*on topic now*-
My great-granny Daniels used to make these rugs. She made HUGE ones, 10X8 or larger. I remember one that had a redish band in it quite like the color you're using here, and it was paired w/a brilliant blue color and mostly white. the red and blue sprinkled throught he rug at certain points.
I loved that rug, it was in her living room and i played on it as a child.
I think keeping up an old traditional craft is just fabulous!!
~hugs~
